Rewind

Before I finish the Birthday Party post, I need to take a step back...back to Maddox's actual birthday on the 12th. I took the morning off work to spend some time with him. He woke up Thursday morning to a sea of balloons outside his door. He was quite surprised and excited (but perhaps not as excited as Cece - she loves balloons!). I found an awesome recipe on Pinterest (yes, it's becoming an obsession) for birthday pancakes made with cake batter and sprinkles. They were yummy and Maddox loved them (so much so, that he requested them again for dinner)!

After breakfast, we headed to the zoo in Madison with my friend Amber and her kids Henry and Aubrey. We saw animals, had a picnic lunch, and I managed to fish out enough change from my purse for Henry and Maddox to ride the train. 

That evening, my mom arrived at our house, and we celebrated with root beer, cupcakes, and some present-opening, including some monster trucks and an Angry Bird shirt from Grandma and a beach towel, United States puzzle and soccer goal from Mommy, Daddy and Cece. 

It was a good day!
