First Grade

I'm a few weeks late, but had to post the obligatory First Day of School pictures!

This year, Maddox settled on something a little more realistic and attainable than a Power Ranger for his "when I grow up" choice :)

This year, they did things a little differently, and the elementary teachers and kids spent the first day of school learning about good and bad behaviors at school and doing scavenger hunts and learning their way around the school more, so they didn't have to bring their backpacks and supplies with them on the first day.
They did need to bring a snack, though, so Maddox got to use his new Star Wars "snack box".

A few weeks into school, and Maddox is already loving 1st grade. He really likes his teacher (who just so happened to be his reading teacher last year), although he was bummed there isn't rest time and classroom play time. But apparently the Smart board they have in the classroom is totally awesome and makes up for all that!

Homework started this week, and he needs to practice reading, math and spelling words nightly. Neither of us look forward to that very much ;)

Once we got some good photos of Maddox, Cecelia had to come out to annoy her brother. This is a pretty accurate glimpse into our daily life - big brother pushing little sister away. Usually Cecelia fights back a little more, though.

Cece's outfit of choice (don't even get me started on some of the stuff she has picked out lately), included this rainbow dress and rain boots:

Our big first grader ready for school:

I think Cece has been pretty happy to have Grandpa all to herself every day:

There's the bus! Maddox's best friend, Henry is in kindergarten, so he rides the bus now too. He saves a seat in the front row for Maddox every day :)

He couldn't have raced up those steps any faster!

That evening, parents were invited to school to participate in a scavenger hunt, meet the teachers, and bring the backpacks full of supplies. Maddox is pretty proud to have his own desk this year!

I can't wait to see all the things Maddox learns this year in 1st grade!
