Close Call

Remember when I mentioned Cecelia is a daredevil? A mischievous, fearless little girl? Yeah, that's still true.
Remember when I said we'd be lucky if we didn't end up in the ER within the year? Well, don't worry, that hasn't happened...yet. But we did have to make a trip to the dentist, because daring little Cece fell off the couch after climbing all over it and chipped a big chunk of her bottom front tooth.
She will be fine. There's not much they can do about it at this point. They just wanted to make sure it's not too sharp or loose. We just have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't start changing color or bothering her, but basically she'll have a chipped tooth until she loses it in 5 or 6 years.
So besides climbing on the couch - which she will use anything and everything she can to get herself up there, including toys, buckets and even the dog - we and Grandpa Kelly have also found her precariously perched in many other dangerous positions:

  • Dining room chairs - Cecelia has become a pro at hoisting herself onto the dining room chairs. She has recently been challenging the integrity of the chairs by trying to climb up the rungs on the back of the chairs. Being able to get onto the chairs has opened up a whole new world of climbing territory, including...
  • Dining room table - climbing onto the chairs is just a launching point for getting on top of the table...or the counters...or anywhere else she can push the chairs to and climb up.
  • Window sills - once Cece makes it onto the couch that sits against the living room window, she wastes no time climbing on the back of the couch and teetering in the window sill. Grandpa Kelly informed us today that she played her own version of the Trust Game where she was standing in the window sill, let go and just let herself fall into Grandpa's arms (all the while with a smile on her face).
  • Doll stroller - she has pushed her doll stroller to the patio door, climbed up on it - mind you, this is just a flimsy plastic stroller - and tried to shimmy the door open (without success, luckily).
  • Rocking chair - she climbs onto the glider in her room, balances on the arm, and pulls all the books off her bookshelf.

I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting at the moment. One thing's for sure: you can't take your eyes off her for a minute. But why would you want to? She's adorable, after all :)

Oh, CECE! Glad you are okay. Get that climbing wall back up on the playset and let her at it! Slow down, Cece grandma loves you! Grandma DAnni
