Last September we had the talented Jolene at Arbor Photographics take the kids' yearly photos. We decided to forego family pictures this year after the disaster that was last year (i.e. stress, yelling, lack of cooperation) and just focus on getting the kids' pictures.
Prior to the shoot, I told Jolene I had a vision for the photos of the kids chasing fireflies at dusk. She quickly got back to me with "I have an idea. Let's do it!". We met her at Pope Farms Conservancy in Middleton late one afternoon and Jolene took over from there.
Oh, but I can't forget to mention that as we were getting ready for pictures, I decide to curl Cece's hair for the first time. Not realizing or knowing what the curling iron was, she grabbed the hot barrel with her bare hands just 30 minutes before pictures were scheduled! There was screaming and crying and blistering. Luckily, we were at Scott's parent's getting ready for the pictures and his mom is a nurse, so she treated her and bandaged her up and sent us with ice packs. Her eyes were red and puffy and between each picture she grabbed for the ice pack again. You can even see her bandages in a few of the photos - poor girl - but I like that because I think it encompasses the day and doesn't let us forget the story of the session.
In the end, Jolene worked her magic and we came away with these beauties!
