Resolutions

I'll come right out and say it: 2015 was a pretty shitty year. Sure, there were some great things - we went on some cool trips, did fun family activities, and the kids continue to grow and learn and be healthy and make us proud. But there were some major events that happened in our family that qualify 2015 as being kinda crappy.
While there are some things I cannot change, I do have some goals and resolutions for 2016 that I'd like to share. They run the gamut from bucket list-esque to better habits for a healthier and happier mind and soul.
  1. Read 25 books. In 2015, I completed my goodreads challenge and read 40 books! I want to continue to read a lot, but last year's goal was a little ambitious and took a lot of time. I think 25 is still respectable. I've gotten most of the books I've read from my  mom's massive collection. It's like going to a book store at her house. I enjoy hearing what new books she has and what she recommends.
  2. Run 2 5K races. That's not a lot, but my stress fracture is still healing, so I'd like to keep it conservative. Scheduling a couple races encourages me to stay active and keep running.
  3. Take a family vacation. At this point, we're thinking Florida and/or South Dakota. I've never been to the Badlands and Maddox has requested seeing Mount Rushmore. I'd also love to take the kids to Disney, but we'll see.
  4. Try something new. I'd like to take the kids skiing, go snow tubing, or try water skiing.
  5. Blog more! This one may be a hard resolution to keep, but I'll try to stay more on top of recent happenings. This one starts next week...I promise :)
  6. Yell less and be more patient. BREATHE!
  7. Be present. I resolve to be on my phone and other electronics less, especially when the kids are awake. I need to start setting a better example.
  8. Smile. Have more fun. Find joy every day. Be friendly.
There, it's out there on the interwebs. Now I will be held accountable :)
