Maddox attended the Barneveld Junior Eagles Basketball camp this year. For $20, they get six weeks of basketball camp with a bunch of volunteer coaches and high school players, a t-shirt and a basketball.
They split into age groups, so this was the kindergarteners and first graders. I think literally every single kid in town was signed up. It's a small school and a small community, but boy does basketball run deep in the veins of Barneveldians. Why just last week, the Lady Eagles won their second straight Division 5 state championship! Maddox had a great time at camp and loves playing for fun, but if mine and Scott's basketball skills are any indication of Maddox's future talent, he may be disappointed ;)
But it was a lot of fun to watch him out there every week. He's a decent ball handler and his shots are improving.
Maddox and his friend, Konnor, planned to wear their matching red Nike socks:
Shooting the ball:
Hands in...Go Eagles!
Goofing around with Konnor:
Excited after being introduced and walking through the gym before a boy's varsity game:
The final day of camp, they broke into teams and scrimmaged each other. Scott and I were in Mexico, so unfortunately couldn't watch, but Scott's parents were there. I hear that Maddox was a great team player, passing the ball, but didn't try for a lot of baskets. He needs to work on his assertiveness :)
Earning his award at the end of camp:
He doesn't look too thrilled here, but I can assure you he had a blast. He's been out nearly every evening playing basketball on the neighbor's court.
